Mystery Blogger Award 2.0

Once again I’m here with another award. I know what you’re thinking, is she only going to do tags and awards now? But fear not my dears for I have just started a new book(ACOWAR). A book review is coming soon, I know it’s been a while! Yay 😀 But for now enjoy this post.

Thank you Lu@It’s Lu Again for nominating for this award. I enjoyed answering all your questions and I especially like this award because we all get to share more about ourselves besides our love for books. You can find Lu’s post here.

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog.
2. List the rules.
3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well. (you can find her blog here)
5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people.
7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).
9. Share a link to your best post(s).

I didn’t tell my parents about this blog until a few months ago and I still haven’t let them see my blog which they’re a little upset about but oh well.

I HATE HATE HATE anything and anyone that has to do with politics! Whenever a conversation moves into anything political I do anything I can to stop it no matter how rude I may appear. It just sickens me and makes me want to vomit. I cannot stress how much I loathe it. My teacher once said that:’politics is a disease’.  I can’t agree more with that statement because whatever it touches it ends up being destroyed and devastated.

I have this obsession with space. I often look at the starless night sky( thank you light pollution) and wish that somehow I’d get to see Earth from outer space. I think that if I was offered an opportunity to go on a space expedition then I’d say yes almost immediately.
5 Questions from Lu:

What has been the most exciting even this year for you?

This might sound like a very dull event but it was new to me and I had a very busy year and didn’t have time to really go out. I’m a very picky eater but I finally decided to try Chinese food! I’ve always heard of how much other people loved it. I went to a Chinese restaurant and I tried everything they had on the table! I surprisingly enjoyed most of it! It’s definitely not what I was expecting.

What have your blogging habits been like this year?

From January to May they’ve been almost nonexistent but now in June I’m trying to blog everyday. That’s been going for a week now and I hope to continue with the same consistency.

How often do you like to post a week?

When I have school, twice a week (one review and one Tag/award). Now I’m on holiday so at least 5 times a week.

One of your hobbies? Why do you love it so much?

I just love love going to dance classes! It’s like hey, you’re having a lot of fun and you’re also doing vigorous exercise! How great is that? It’s so easy because I usually don’t feel exhausted until I’ve sat down after 50 minutes of moving nonstop. Right now I’m only going to Zumba classes because that’s the one my gym offers but if I had the chance I’d join a lot more different dance classes

(Weird) If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be?

Oooh I’ve considered this one before. I’d love to be any animal that flies so maybe a magpie.

5 Questions from me:

What inspired you to start a blog?

Which character would you switch lives with if you had the opportunity to?

What is one thing you’d change about your personality?

Who/what got you into becoming the reader you are now?

(Funny):What is the function of a rubber duck?

The Black Cat Blue Sea Award

I want to thank Angelica @The Book Cover Girls for nominating me for this award. Everyone go check thier blog out, they have tons of great book reviews, tags and much more.

So, what is The Black Cat Blue Sea Award, you ask?

blackcat“This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it, and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.”

Angelica’s questions:

If you could bring any fictional character to life who would it be and why?

Aelin Galathynius. Obviously I’d want to bring my favourite character back. But I’m pretty sure she’d struggle getting used to the modern world. But I love her so much she’ll have to deal with it!

What is the one book that you have reread more than any other? How many times have you read it? Why do you always go back to that one?

img_0227Harry Potter. I think I’ve reread all the books 5 times! It was the first series that I ever read with so much love. Before that, I hated reading and never understood its appeal! So I tend to reread it with other books or when I have exams and can’t read anything new and it never loses its magic. I’ll hopefully reread it for as long as I have functioning eyes.

If you could only read one author’s work for the rest of your life, which author would it be? Why?

Rachel True GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Oh my god! This question is simply too hard! I have to pick an author who’s most probably going to continue writing great books for a looooong time so I always read new stories. Umm..  Maybe Cassandra Clare or Rick Riordan? I’m still not sure on this one… I might change my mind after posting this tag 😅

My Questions:

Which fictional character do you think you’d be great friends with if they lived in your world or vice versa?

Which fictional creature would you love being the most? Why?

If you had total control over a movie production which book (series) would you choose? By total control, I mean actors, scripts, any effects, and everything else is your choice.

3 Random Facts about me:

1-I generally have a very weird mixed up taste in things like I love rock music with a lot of metal and screaming but I also love classical music like Ludovico. Or I hate being surrounded by too many people but I also hate being alone as well. My mind never makes sense.

2-I LOATHE the entire idea of selfies!

3-I wish to be one of those wise old dudes in books/movies who always give information in riddles and unsaid words and still sounding deep and philosophical. I want to be able to just produce random deep quotes at any time of the day and being wise would help a lot ;P

Questions from Lu:

What made you the happiest you’ve ever been this year?

I’m a total complete nerd so when I finally got my IGCSE results with all A*s, I never thought I’d be happier. Also when my grandma and uncle finally came to live in Turkey with my family, I’m so grateful to have all my family together again!

If you could do one more great thing, and one only, what would you do?

It sounds impossible but I’d somehow end the existence of politics. Then there’d be no wars, and we’ll have some peace with what’s left of humanity.

What are two of your life goals?

1-Write novels that become popular

2-Adopt and raise a child successfully

Do you consider yourself a clumsy person?

The real question is: when am I not clumsy? I trip on nothing! I collide with a lot of walls and columns and bump into so many people it’s insane! Fortunately, I’ve come to terms with my clumsiness and I like to think that I make up for it with my charms :D.

Weird: What was your most recent dream about?

I dream very frequently-nearly every single day. So my dream last night: I was running with my sister and mom on a cold dark road and I could feel the desperation inside me to get somewhere safe, then we went into this house that was a ‘safe house’ in case of an apocalypse. I knew the world was ending but I didn’t how or why, then there was this random strange man who was somehow let into the safe house with the rest of us and I had this really bad feeling about him. He looked so much like one of those mature rich villains who’d dress up nicely. The problem was, everyone seemed to know him but I couldn’t shake the feeling of him planning something ominous. Then I heard him discussing some plan with a neighbour, I can’t remember what the plan was about, but it was bad. Right before I could alert anyone about the plan, the neighbour caught me and I woke up before I knew what happened.

That is usually how my dreams go and I wake up right before something terrible happens.

My Questions:

  1. What characteristic do you like most in the people you know?
  2. Who do you feel most comfortable fanboy/girling with the most?
  3. What is one impossible goal you dreamt of achieving?
  4. If you could choose one skill to be unnaturally good at, what would it be?
  5. Weirder than bananas: What was the most violent thought that crossed your mind?

My Best Post:

Book Review-A Court of Mist and Fury(A Court of Thorns and Roses #2)

I really really LOVED writing this review and I’m still proud of all the GIFs I found to match my reactions! Everyone go read my review, you won’t regret it.

Sunshine Blogger Award!!!

I want to thank Chelsey The Heart and the Page for nominating for this award and asking super cool questions that I loved answering. Everyone go follow her this instance because she has awesome posts that’ll make you smile.

  1. Answer the 11 questions from the nominator.
    2. Nominate 11 blogs.
    3. Ask them 11 questions.

  1. Weirdest scar you have, and how did you get it?

It isn’t a cool story but I don’t have that many scars that I know where they originate from. When I was small and had eyeglasses with sharp nose pads I was carrying a lot of heavy art supplies for my art class and being my clumsy self, I slipped and the nose pads tore through the skin right above my right eyebrow and I’ve had a small thin line right above my right eyebrow ever since. I confess I cried like a baby when I saw blood and I wasn’t even that young.

  1. If you could travel to one country what would it be and why?

I don’t have a specific country I’d go to but I do have the Moon being at the top of the list if that counts.

  1. Ever thought about writing your own book? And if you are already, tell us about it!

Yes! All the time actually! I want to write a whole series and it would probably be a fantasy. Although, I’m not sure I have the words and imagination to properly write anything yet. I want to write books that would break people’s hearts and at the same time expand the readers minds to whole new levels so I don’t think I have the potential for that yet.

  1. Number one blogging tip for newbies?

Find other bloggers who share the same interests with you and let them know what you think of their blog and their posts. That’s the best way to get noticed and you also get to meet cool people along the way. Also, never ever be scared of posting whatever comes to your mind on your blog, be unique, after all it is YOUR blog and you can do whatever you want.

  1. What’s your dream job? Doesn’t have to be practical!

As you can already see from my previous answers I love Space and I would absolutely love working in that field, either studying the galaxy or mapping constellations or anything else. It’d be totally perfect any way.

  1. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

I’m not entirely sure… There’s too many people I want to meet! I guess from the past I wouldn’t mind meeting Newton or Dante. From the living I’d want to meet my favourite authors.

  1. If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why?

My mind will change later about this but right now, I’d love to be Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter. He’s so wise and intelligent with soooo many deep confusing quotes that I adore and I would totally love to be that kind of person. Also the idea of getting a really long beard to stroke while thinking is also super cool. I really want to know what goes on in that head of his.

  1. What animal best represents you?

I just took 5 different tests to determine that but they don’t feel right so I’m going to guess and say porcupine.

  1. Which fictional world do you want to live in?

Any fantasy world and I’m up to live in it instead of this one.

  1. If you could go back in time, which year would you travel to?

Oooh I’d love to live in the 15/16th century when people used to talk in such formal fancy ways that I wish I could talk like too.

  1. The best part of waking up is…

I hate waking up most of the time since it means I have to leave the dream world and go back to the real one but I have something that motivates me to get out of bed and that is either, the chance to read a book or the prospect of having Nutella chocolate for breakfast with a hot cup of milk.

  1. What is one quote you try to live by?
  2. What is one thing you can’t live without?
  3. What motivates you?
  4. Choose a fictional character to be your best friend for life.
  5. Do you have any unusual obsessions or habits?
  6. Did you ever have an invisible friend?
  7. Pick one fictional monster you’d want as a pet.
  8. If you took over the world, who would you kill first and why?
  9. The world is about to end, what is the last thing you’d do if you had the chance?
  10. What do you notice first in people you meet?
  11. What is your favourite post you’ve done on your blog?

The Blogger Recognition Award 2!

Hey guys! I have another award to share with you guys! I hope my advice helps you in some way!

I would like to thank icebreaker694 for nominating for this award, sorry it took me so long to write this post! Go follow her amazing blog  here!

1.Write a post to show your award
2.Give a brief story of how your blog started
3.Give two three pieces of advice to new bloggers
4.Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
5.Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

How BookDragon 1017 came to be:

The idea of my blog was someone else’s idea actually. I was talking to my friend about extracurricular activities and how I have none of those, other than reading, and she suggested that I start a blog and review the books I read. I found the idea interesting but couldn’t bring myself to work on it since I knew nothing about blogging and writing reviews (I still know close to nothing about them). Over the summer of 2016, I was still frustrated by my boring dull life and was complaining about it to my best friend when she suggested I start a book blog. It was summer and I had some free-time where I researched as much as I could about blogs and where I can create one for free. I found WordPress as the most suitable choice and began setting my site! I comforted myself with the thought of: If I screw this up, I can easily delete this site and pretend it never happened. Now 4 months later, I am grateful that I started this blog and learned more about writing and met new wonderful people and shared my books with everyone! I don’t plan on giving up on BookDragon 1017 for a long time!

My Advice to New Bloggers:

1.BE YOURSELF! Don’t be shy of expressing exactly how you feel while blogging, always let your inner-weirdness out and as I always say: “Being weird is normal. Being normal is weird.”This all sounds cheesy but trust me when I tell you that it will really help. If you’re reluctant to being that noticeable you can use what I used to tell myself before I became more sure of myself: I can say whatever I want to say, this is just a blog on the internet, no one knows who I really am and nobody can judge me.

2.ALWAYS COMMENT on other people’s work to get noticed, share your honest thoughts and watch how happy you become as people actually reply! I’ve met so many great people like that who share the same love for books as I do, and I’m thankful to my blog for that.

3.DON’T COMPARE YOUR BLOG TO SOMEONE ELSE’S. Seeing a very successful blog with a lot of followers and great posts then hating yourself for not being good enough is not going to help! Do whatever you want to do and don’t be discouraged by the number of followers you have. After all, your blog is for you to appreciate before everyone else.

I nominate:

Anyone who wants to share their advice about blogging!
I’m looking forward to seeing your stories and advice!

Hope you guys enjoyed my post! Let me know what you thought in the comments.

Questions for Award

  1. A book you started but never finished…but want to finish. What stopped you from continuing to read it?
    2. What elements attract you to a book, which makes you need to read it?
    3. Which books do you prefer, e-copy or hard copy?
    4. What book are you currently reading or going to read next?
    5. Is it fair to judge a book by its film?
    6. What book did you badly judge by its cover and ended up loving?
    7. Which book character have you felt the most kin with and able to relate with?

My Extra Question for You:

What was the first book you read that got you into reading?

My answers:

1)A book you started but never finished…but want to finish. What stopped you from continuing to read it?

The Last Star by Rick Yancey. I started reading it but then halfway through I realized that I had completely forgotten about the characters and the plot. Whenever I feel like rereading the first two books in the trilogy I’ll read The Last Star then.

2) What elements attract you to a book, which makes you need to read it?

The first thing that grabs my attention is the title. If the title sounds cool and mysterious I’d be more likely to read the synopsis of the book and see if its interesting.

3) Which books do you prefer, e-copy or hard copy?

Hardcopies provide me with the complete reading experience and I love touching the pages and feeling the words.

4) What book are you currently reading or going to read next?

I’m currently reading Empire of Storms and I’ll be reviewing it sometime this week. I’m planning on then reading An Ember in the Ashes.

5) Is it fair to judge a book by its film?

Definitely not! I’ve watched way too many poorly made movies that were supposedly ‘based’ on the books and ended up hating them where I had loved the book! I’ve seen some of my friends watch a movie about a book then decide that the book must’ve been as terrible as the movie and opting not to read it.

6) What book did you badly judge by its cover and ended up loving?

I judged City of Bones so much before actually reading it! I mean the cover was not my thing and it discouraged me a lot! But after reading it I realized that I was completely wrong and the series became one of my favourites.

7) Which book character have you felt the most kin with and able to relate with?

Finding a character that I can relate to is very hard because I usually choose books that have characters with completely different personalities than mine but I did find one character that had the exact same thoughts I had and that is: Ari from Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Ari and I both believed that our lives where someone else’s idea and from then onwards I loved Ari. I like to think that if Ari and Dante could have children then I would be the result of their children having children and their children having children until the blood was more diluted but still present. Basically I’m a mixture of Ari’s and Dante’s personality.

Extra question from icebreaker:

How do you pick a certain book to read? What goes through your head?

My choice of books is sort of like instincts, I can feel whether a book is going to be great or not by reading the synopsis, checking the genre and looking at the cover.  What I think in my head is: whether this book will become one of my favourites or just be a book I read?

My 100 word story:

There once was a great and prosperous kingdom that has long been forgotten by the world and in the very centre of that forgotten kingdom lay a single everlasting Banana. Legend says that that Banana was the mother of all bananas and the wise people of that kingdom worshipped it endlessly. It was said to be a gift from the Banana Lords, that gift was meant to bring prosperity and wisdom to whoever laid eyes upon its sacred lush yellow flesh. Seldom have outsiders ever spotted the Banana and as the Kingdom faded away to the Other, the Banana gone with it, no one had proof of its existence.

sunshine21.pngI was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger 2.0 Award by Jasmine @How Useful It Is. Thank you so much Jasmine for nominating me and always commenting on my posts! You’re the best! I loved reading your answers to other people’s questions, I love knowing more about my fellow bloggers! Jasmine is super funny and her blog really is useful and fun. You guys should check her blog because it’s spectacular and awesome!

The Rules:

Thank the person who nominated you.

Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.

Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions to answer.

Questions from How Useful It Is:

  1. Just have to ask because I am too curious! Who is your book boyfriend?

Hahaha, what a lovely question! I believe that there are way too many awesome perfect males that I read about in books to choose only one. Alas they are either taken, gay, or dead! *sigh* But I guess that if I really thought about it, the most likely candidate would be: Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments.

  1. What inspired the name of your blog?

I chose the name “Book Dragon” because I LOVE dragons and the term would be so much cooler compared to “Bookworm”. I chose the number 1017 because it has a deep meaning for me from a character I read about in a book. 1017 was my favourite Spackle from the series Chaos Walking. My best friends and I were obsessed with 1017 so much! Now whenever I need to choose a number 1017 is always the best choice!

  1. What is your favorite genre?

My favourite genre would be Young Adult. I prefer  fantasy and sci-fi over contemporary most of the time. I read a lot of Dystopias as well, but most aren’t that great.

  1. What is your least favorite genre?

My least favaourite genre is non-fiction, it’s a pretty broad genre with lots of sub genres but I don’t get the point of reading about something real! The beauty of reading in my opinion is seeing things that aren’t real. I’ve tried reading a couple of non-fiction books but couldn’t get past the first few chapters! They’re so dull and boring, nothing grabs my attention. I just end up reading the words but not comprehending them or seeing everything inside my head.

  1. How many hard copy books do you own right now?

55 hard copy books only! I know that’s a really sad number compared to the total number of books I’ve read but I live in a city where English books are really hard to come by and are quite expensive if I find them. I’m trying to buy more actual books now instead of downloading them to my phone and reading them there.

  1. Do you read books by yourself or with a buddy?

By myself, I don’t have any friends that live nearby who love reading books as much as I do. I’d find it weird reading something with the presence of another human being who’s also reading, I’d feel like I have to fill the silence (awkwardly of course!) Although me and my best friend sometimes read the same book at the same time and we live in different countries but we get to share our thoughts to each other while reading without worrying about spoiling, which is AWESOME!

  1. Have you been to a book release party at a bookstore?

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to a book release party and it breaks my heart to a million pieces but I daydream about going to one all the time! The reason is that, as I’ve mentioned before, English books are hard to come by and I bet this place never even heard of a book release party.

  1. Have you interview a favorite author?

No I haven’t but I’d love to one day interview my favourite authors!

  1. What would you do if you ran into your favorite author on the street?

Just imagining such a scenario makes me want to squeal! I’d stare at them and wonder whether what I’m seeing is real or not. Eventually they’d notice my stare and look in my direction and our eyes would meet. At this point I’d be launching pep talks to muster enough encourage to approach them. When I manage to get my wobbly feet to work, I’d run up to them and introduce myself and tell them how much I love them and their books! Of course throughout the whole thing my face would be lit up like a Christmas Tree! If they talk back I’m a 100% sure I’d faint! Oh how lovely the whole thing would be!

  1. What is your second favorite thing to do besides reading?

I love watching TV shows and my favourites are: Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Merlin.

  1. Have you ever read for others? Like at a nursing home or read to your grandparents?

No I haven’t. I have never read out loud to a single soul, the occasion has simply never come up plus my voice is terrible, I wouldn’t put my worst enemies through that torture! I once tried reading the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to my sister but she ran away before I could utter a single syllable.

My Questions:

  1. What was the first book you read that pulled you into the reading world?
  2. If you could switch roles with any fictional character who would it be?
  3. What made you start a blog?
  4. What inspired the name of your blog?
  5. Who is/are your favourite author(s)?
  6. What is your favourite genre?
  7. Which fictional world is your favourite?
  8. What else are you obsessed with besides reading?
  9. What was the last book you read that made you cry?
  10. What was a book that you disliked before reading but ended up liking it afterwards?
  11. What is the maximum number of times you’ve read a book?

Deep Thoughts 101

Bookish Barbara

The Questions:

1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?
I’ve always wanted to share my thoughts about books with others but being my usual shy self I couldn’t speak freely to people. I then learned about blogs and found about WordPress, created a blog, and here I am! I’m super glad I did because I already feel  more confident talking about books to other people!

2. What is your favourite book?
This is one of the most difficult questions anyone could ask me! Do people find answering this question easy? I definitely can’t pick one book that I love more over everything else but I’ll try to select my top favourite series.

  1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
  2. Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan
  3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
  4. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
  5. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
  6. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

3. What do you dislike the most?
I dislike politics and anyone or anything that has to do with politics. That’s all that needs to be said.

4. What is your favourite food item from the mall?
Shawarma is my FAVOURITE food from the mall near my house. There’s this nice tiny restaurant in the mall that sells the Best. Shawarma. Ever. That is the meal I always always eat in the mall. In fact, I daydream about shawarma whenever I’m hungry and I can smell it so vividly that my mouth probably waters. For those of you who might not be familiar with shawarma, it’s an Arabic chicken sandwich consisting of shredded chicken pieces with chopped vegetables wrapped in pita bread.

5. What is your favourite pastime?
Other than the obvious (reading) I love watching TV shows such as Doctor Who, Merlin, and Sherlock. My life might seem a little boring consisting of only two things I love to occupy my time with, but to me I wouldn’t change it for the world and am perfectly content to do these two things for the rest of my existence!

Hope you guys enjoyed learning more about me! Carry on reading and tata!
